Otherwise known as pickled cucumbers or gherkins, Pickles are a cucumber which instead of being served raw, is picked in vinegar, brine or another acidic solutions before being left to ferment.
Pickle can also mean a ‘ploughman’s pickle’ in the UK which is served with a ploughman’s lunch.
However, for this post it refers to a pickled cucumber.
So can gerbils eat pickles?
No they can’t unfortunately. They are far too acidic for them to eat.
Gerbils cannot handle too much acidic food because their bodies are not able to deal with acids. They will make them sick if they have too much.
