Potatoes are a starchy, tuberous crop that is grown in many countries around the world. It is a staple food in many different countries, civilizations and cultures and is a highly adaptable food that is used for many different culinary purposes.
So can gerbils eat potato?
No they can’t unfortunately. It is quite toxic for gerbils and should be avoided.
This is because it contains quite a lot of water content, acids and phosphorus content. If they eat a little of it, they should be fine but it isn’t a food to be purposely fed to gerbils.
There are much better foods that will love and enjoy more than potatoes.
